You Know You’re From Rockford When…
Ah Rockford... the second largest city in Illinois. Some may even call it the Forest City. Thanks to some help from our friends at Rockford Rocked, and a little digging around, I proudly bring you some of my favorites from Rockford and the Stateline Area:
You Know You're From Rockford When:
You remember when it was the Rockford Expo's, then the Rockford Reds, Rockford Cubbies, then the Rockford River Hawks and now The Rockford Aviators.
Speaking of baseball, you already knew that "A League of Their Own" was about the Rockford Peaches.
Your cabinet is filled with Mrs. Fisher's Potato Chips and you have ate them from a bucket.
And you are chomping on Chiclets that were made at Warner Lambert.
You remember when we could have had NIU, if we weren't so angry about noise.
You've seen Slash hanging out in the alley between Jackson Piano and the Coronado in 1988.
You may have seen Danica Patrick speeding down State Street before she started speeding around the NASCAR track.
You remember when the Rolling Stones came to the Metro Centre in 1981.
And when Bon Scott and AC/DC rocked the Winnebago County Fairgrounds.
No news to you, Lacey Underall (Cindy Morgan) from "Caddyshack" used to work at WROK doing overnights.
Bill Murray and "Groundhog Day" was filmed driving off the cliffs at Nimtz Quarry.
Many famous people were your neighbor, friend or relative. Like Susan Saint James, Barbara Hale, Ginger Lynn, Jodi Benson (voice of Ariel from the Disney movie Little Mermaid) and Ira Matthews all came from Rockford.
Martha Quinn from MTV once broadcast live from Rick Nielsen's house.
CHEAP TRICK! (enough said)
