WI Nurse Amputates Foot Without Permission For Taxidermy Shop
An extremely disturbed nurse in Wisconsin cut off a patient's foot without approval from anyone.
Very Sick Patient Was Sent To Hospice Care
An elderly Wisconsin man was sent to a rehabilitation center after he walked outside in his bare feet during winter weather. That caused him a horrible case of frostbite. In fact, they turned black. Unfortunately, his health took a turn for the worse and he wasn't going to make it. His family and doctors decided sending him to hospice was best for him.
Hospice Nurse Asks Permission To Amputate Patient's Foot
While in hospice care, the patient's nurse asked for permission to amputate one of the man's feet. She wanted to display it in the window of her taxidermy shop with a sign that warned kids to wear their boots in the winter. If you ask me, that's just insane.
Nurse's Request To Amputate Foot Is Denied
The nurse asked for permission to amputate the foot. She was not given consent from the patient, family, or doctors. The woman believed it was okay to do because he was dying and not really conscious. Her medical opinion was that it would be for his pride to not have to live that way since the foot was gross and smelly.
Nurse Amputates Patient's Foot Without Permission
The nurse thought that a doctor would eventually do it anyway. So, she decided to remove the foot herself. Even without permission. My question is how did she know how to do it correctly? Did she watch a YouTube video for directions? She put the amputated body part in the freeze until she could take it to her taxidermy shop.
Update On The Nurse And Patient
Unfortunately, the man died a few days later. His foot was buried with him. The nurse was arrested and could go to jail for ninety-two years for intentionally causing bodily harm to an elderly person.
