Spring is technically here but it seems like winter is like that person that has to always get the last word in during a verbal confrontation. It just won't stop. Need proof? There's at least one more chance for snow in Northern Illinois this year and it could happen this weekend.

The National Weather Service has a Winter Storm Watch in place for much of Northern Illinois for Friday night into Saturday afternoon. Boone, McHenry, Ogle, Lee, De Kalb, and Cook are included in that warning. But what about Winnebago? According to NWS, as of 4:23 a.m. Winnebago County is included in the Winter Storm Watch but based on new models it might miss. So, what's the snow potential for the affected areas?

With this system, we will notice a tight and sharp gradient of snow totals. Some will only see minimal snow accumulations, while others will need the snow blower.

That's the latest update from Eyewitness News Meteorologist Kristin Cwynar said, but it's a tough call because the storm could easily shift.

This axis of heaviest snow could shift in the upcoming forecasts. This forecast is not set in stone, we'll continue to tweak the forecast and keep you updated as we head into the weekend.

I haven't found a Rockford TV station (as of this writing) that has committed to an accumulation estimate, only that the Winter Storm will bring either a dusting of snow or the thick slushy stuff.
