A new business in town receives a special Rockford style welcoming.

Saturday night on my way home from the Rockford IceHogs game, I noticed a bunch of police cars around Marco's Pizza on Charles Street. When I got home, I immediately hit Social Media to find out what happened. It's funny how that works now.

According to mystateline.com, "Shortly after 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Rockford Police responded to the Marco's Pizza on the 2700 block of Charles St. for an armed robbery. Two suspects entered the restaurant armed with a gun and demanded money. An undisclosed amount of money was obtained by the suspects, they then fled on foot. No employees or customers were injured during the incident. The suspects are described as two black males thin in build, both wearing a black jacket and black pants."

Marco's Pizza on Charles Street just opened a couple of weeks ago. After I found out what happened, I immediately thought this is a great way for a new business to be welcomed to town.

Luckily, no one was hurt. With a little chuckle I said to myself, only in Rockford.
