Here's another scam warning you may want to share with your older family members or friends as well as anyone you know that may not speak perfect English. The folks are potential targets for a "too good to be true" utility rates scam. The scam includes not only spectacular "individual rates" but also added incentives. According to WREX,

"They will offer certain perks to entice people to sign up like a gift card or airline miles without really being clear with the customer what the actual monthly costs will be on their energy bill," Citizens Utility Board Outreach Director Sarah Moskowitz said.

Citizen's Utility Board also reminds residents (via WREX) the City of Rockford will never have any deals with unregulated utility service providers.
