Walgreens Might Be Closing Stores In Rockford This Fall
In order to cut costs, Walgreens is closing 200 stores across the United States.
The Deerfield, Illinois based company that employs 240,000 worldwide, reported nearly a 25% loss in net income a few months ago according to WGN.
Walgreens has yet to officially announce where the closures would happen but anytime something like this happens it's a concern it may hit locally, and more specifically, the Rockford area.
Besides another empty storefront in the Rockford area, it's the loss of jobs that would hurt the most.
There are five Walgreens locations in Rockford:
- 1602 Kishwaukee Street
- 2323 Charles Street
- 1145 North Alpine Road
- 1201 East State Street
- 3336 11th Street
The company operates more than 18,500 stores in 11 countries.
