States that are recalling the cheese are:

  • Colorado
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Iowa
  • Kansas
  • Michigan
  • Minnesota
  • Nebraska
  • North Dakota
  • Ohio
  • South Dakota
  • Wisconsin

Check to see if you have the contaminated cheese. According to USA Today:

The consumer package code for the recalled batch is 021000611614. The packages also have a date stamp that reads "17 DEC 2014," and the time frame is between 10:54 and 14:35.

I would personally suggest no matter where you purchased the product, to double check and see if your packaging follows the guidelines above.

The cheese is being recalled because it did not contain "appropriate levels of sorbic acid" needed for preserving the product, according to a Kraft statement.

Time to check the fridge! If you can not find the time stamp or packaging code, use the age old phrase, "When in doubt, throw it out."
