Unforgettable Winter Fun, Like Horseback Riding and Frozen Waterfalls, Awaits in Illinois

Yes, it is cold outside but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy some other door winter fun. Dress warm and get ready to make some fun memories in Illinois when the temperatures are low.

There are some unique winter activities for the entire family awaiting in Northern Illinois, which you're about to learn about and likely add to your to-do list.

If you're close to the Wisconsin/Illinois border two winter favorites just officially opened for the winter season in Rockford.

Snow Park at Alpine Hills, near E. State Street and Alpine Road, just opened and, with the cold weather sticking around, there's no excuse to not check it out. Just dress warmly.

Snow tubing and ice skating are fun, don't get me wrong, but if you're looking for something a little more unique, these are definitely worth checking out.

White Pines Ranch has a day/overnight of fun awaiting in Oregon, Illinois.

Guests arrive at 9 am to get their things settled before the fun begins, including horseback riding, grooming, orienteering, mapping, and horse saddling. There will also be sledding, cross-country skiing, hiking, crafts, initiative tasks, and wilderness survival tips.

At night there are hayrides, indoor bingo, line dancing, and even a campfire before bed. Sunday includes breakfast and more activities until early afternoon.
