Illinois Has One of America’s Most Festive Towns for the Holidays
If holiday vibes during Christmas time are your thing you will love this list.
Yes, big cities pull off some amazing light displays and load their cities with holiday decor that is spectacular, but what about areas that aren't quite as big?
This new list by the travel magazine, Sixt, highlights their top 20 towns that are a must-visit during the winter holiday season. Wisconsin, unfortunately, did not make this list, but Illinois did.
#1: Branson, Missouri
The number one town that is deemed the 'Most Festive Holiday Town in the U.S.' is Branson, Missouri.
I've been to Branson several times, throughout all seasons, and I can tell you personally, it's a great spot for holiday cheer.
Specifically, Silver Dollar City, a massive amusement park, pulls out all the stops for the winter holidays with an impressive amount of lights throughout the park.
Branson is also known as 'America’s Christmas Tree City', with more decorated Christmas trees than you can see in a matter of days.
What Ilinois town made the list?
Here are a few of the other towns that made the list.
2. Skaneateles, New York
3. Fredericksburg, Texas
4. Grapevine, Texas
Naperville, Illinois takes the #5 spot and some of the photos below are great examples as to why.
In the article, here's what Sixt had to say about Naperville.
Christmas in Naperville buzzes with authenticity – no manufactured snow here! This holiday town’s Christkindlmarket offers a variety of traditional beautifully crafted trinkets that you’ll swear came directly from Santa’s workshop.
Naperville is LOADED with homes that go all-out with static holiday displays, meaning they're not moving lights. Static lights don't mean less magic, in some cases, it adds to the magic.
There's even a map to find a group of homes with the same mission, to spread holiday cheer.
