Touching Video Shows Local Family Getting Surprise Homecoming at a Rockford Rivets Game
Being a single mom is one of the toughest jobs I've ever had and fortunately for me, I only have one child. So I can only imagine how hard it's been for Mary Ellen Spencer, of Rockford, to take care of three beautiful children while her husband Greg has been serving his country overseas for the last six and a half months. Judging by her Facebook page, yes, Mary Ellen, I was creepin', she and her precious daughters have been keeping busy all summer and have been having a lot of fun.
Especially at the Rivets game where they were surprised on Military Appreciation night with a special homecoming- Greg had come home from leave early and surprised his entire family on the field after Mary Ellen was done singing the National Anthem. Just when she thought she was ready to take her seat in the stands, she was told to stay put as Greg removed his catcher's mask and gave the girls a giant hug.
According to video shared by WIFR, everyone was so excited that one of Mary Ellen's daughter's said, "Who cares about the baseball game."
Greg is on leave for the next month and he hopes to just hang out and catch up on all that he's missed since he's been gone.
