Tornado Hits Rockford TV Station; Captured Live in 2011 Video

The date was May 22 2011, and Eric Sorensen from 13 WREX was wearing his big boy pants.

I can remember sitting on my couch watching this unfold. More than likely I was pretending to be sick, I did that a lot at my previous job.

It was a crazy weather day. The same storm that produced incredible damage in Joplin, MO later that night rolled through our area and it was frightening.

On 13 WREX the live coverage of the storm never stopped. Eric Sorensen was amazing and kept quite cool in some very dangerous conditions. Eric gathered everyone to the basement of the TV station and was super professional on the air. This was some of the greatest live TV I ever watched.
