Parents all over the Rockford-area are struggling with the decision they have to make about in-school learning or the decision they're about to make. The debate on Facebook seems to do nothing but add more stress to parents' lives.

As we shared in a video earlier this week, whether you choose to keep your child(ren) home or send them to school, neither decisions are wrong.

The decision YOU make is the right decision

Still, this is a tough call. There are so many pros/cons to either decision. It is not fair to judge another parent based on their decision. So many factors are considered, which probably involved stressful days and sleepless nights. Because of these struggles we wanted to find tips for all parents and guardians to use to manage not only the decision making but also preparing for another school year.

Kevin Polky, the executive director of KP Counseling, is a clinical social worker who always is generous with his time and allows us to ask what everyone else is questioning - how do we get through this without losing our minds. The answer involves communication with each other and our kids, most importantly, listening.

As far as the potential stress related to wearing face masks, Kevin suggests trying different kinds of masks until your child(ren) learns which she or he likes best.

Here shared even more advice for keeping stress levels at a minimum as we approach the 2020-2021 school year.
