Tiny Illinois Eatery Named One of ‘America’s Best Hidden Gems’
There's a town and a restaurant inside it, that is so small if you blink there's a very good chance you'll miss it.
But it sounds like if we're ever in the area we should definitely slow down and take notice.
That's because it's one of the best restaurants we've never heard of apparently.
24/7 Tempo unveiled a list of the Best Hidden Gem Restaurants in America, and the choice for Illinois is certainly one of the best, definitely hidden, and for sure a restaurant.
Let's start from the top, have you ever been to L'Erable, Illinois? The first thing I thought of is, "it's got to be way south in Illinois." Actually, it's not. How about nearby Clifton, Illinois? No? Me either.
OK, how about Bourbonnais? Most of us in Illinois have heard of Bourbonnais. Former training camp home of the Chicago Bears and it's also where you'll find Olivet Nazarene University.
Well, just south of Bourbonnais, is L'Erable and that's where you'll find Illinois' Best Hidden Gem Restaurant, The Longbranch.
There isn’t much to the town of L’Erable, described as being in the middle of nowhere, but for the devoted fans of The Longbranch it is worth the drive. The food is solid American fare, cooked well at a reasonable price. The place fills up with mostly locals, but everyone gets a friendly welcome.
Scrolling through The Longbranch Facebook, you'll see some stuff that would rival what any big city in Illinois can do.
Some of the highlights are the BBQ Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese and a delicious-looking cheeseburger.
Have you made your way to The Longbranch? Is it worth the trip?
