Nearly 30 years after it was originally released, small details in Home Alone are still popping up.

If you haven't seen Home Alone, stop what you're doing and give it a watch. It's funny, cute and a totally great Christmas movie.

Like many of John Hughes movies (he produced Home Alone), this one is also filmed in Illinois. Winnetka to be exact.

If you don't know the first thing about Home Alone here's a brief synopsis.

IMDB says "An eight-year-old troublemaker must protect his house from a pair of burglars when he is accidentally left home alone by his family during Christmas vacation."

How is Kevin "accidentally" left at home? First, with the entire extended family at his house, Kevin is forced to sleep in the attic. Second, after a power outage, knocking out the McCallister's alarm clock, everyone was forced to scurry out of the house to get to the airport in time for their flight. Third, when a head count was taken outside of the home before the McCallister's left, Kevin was accounted for but in actuality, it was the neighbor kid who was mistaken as Kevin (his head was turned.) This is all happening because Kevin is asleep in the attic. The family left for the airport and just like that, Kevin was left behind.

That explains why Kevin's family left him behind, but what about when the McCallister's got to the airport? Wouldn't the extra airline ticket make them realize they left him or at least someone behind?

Not really, and you can blame Kevin's dad. While cleaning up spilled milk (who drinks milk with pizza?), he unknowingly threw out Kevin's plane ticket.

Are you kidding? I've watched the movie tons of times, and I never noticed it until today.

Small details like this in Home Alone are what make the movie so great. Anything else you've noticed in the movie that we need to hear about? Let us know.
