We're all going to die one day. Odds are it won't be in a super cool way like leaping from a burning building to attempt to stop a runaway train. But you never know.
The National Safety Council released an updated list of the top causes of death as of 2017 and your odds of dying from them. Here are the top 10:
- Heart disease – 1 in 6
- Cancer – 1 in 7
- Lung disease – 1 in 27
- Suicide – 1 in 88
- Opioid overdose – 1 in 96
- Car accident – 1 in 103
- Falling – 1 in 114
- Getting shot – 1 in 285
- Hit by a car or other vehicle – 1 in 556
- Motorcycle accident – 1 in 858
