OK, so that's a terrible picture...But kinda funny. Let's take a trip to the oldest tavern in the state of Illinois! ONLY

The Long Grove Village Tavern is located on Old McHenry Rd, in Long Grove, IL...Thus the name, but not the name that it has always been.

Originally called the Zimmer Tavern and Wagon Shop, hey I like "The Wagon Shop," this was the spot for liquor in 1847. They were the first to get a liquor license in Lake County, IL.

There's LOTS to look at inside the oldest tavern in Illinois, including the "President's Bar" which is made of "rich mahogany" as a certain t.v. newsman from San Diego would say.  The mahogany bar was rescued from a devastating fire at the the Great McCormick Place back in 1967.

So what else is happening at The Long Grove Village Tavern? How about a grandfather clock from the 1893 World's Fair, and a FISH FRY. Say what?

Nothing fishy about this from the oldest bar in Illinois! Every Friday night you can get fried, and maybe learn a little something at The Long Grove Inn and Tavern. Good drunken history, good drunken stories, good drunkin' fish!

In its nostalgic style, The Long Grove Tavern and Restaurant serves back-to-basics cocktails and brews to remind you of simpler times. If you thought prohibition-style speakeasies were retro, wait until you go somewhere that even precedes the prohibition. -ONLY IN YOUR STATE
