In the early hours of Tuesday morning, two people were robbed at a business on the Far South Side of Chicago. While that might not sound too shocking for Chicago, what happens next is anything but ordinary.

According to Chicago Police, a 19-year-old held two people up at gunpoint robbing them of their cell phones, wallets, and cash at a business in the 700 block of West 116th Place.

Police also said that as the man was fleeing the scene of the crime, he shot himself in the penis.  He was then taken to Christ Medical Center in serious condition, where he was also taken into custody.

As of Tuesday morning, charges are pending and Area South detectives are investigating.
