Former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler is hoping a reunion of the classic GN'R lineup happens "for the people." In a recently interview with The Trap Set podcast, the drummer spoke about his newfound sobriety and his hopes of a reunion.

While on the podcast (as transcribed by Blabbermouth), the original GN'R drummer talked of how his year plus of sobriety has helped him grow closer to Slash. "[I’m] proving myself, 'cause he's been sober, I think, 11 years. And, basically, if you show people that care about you that you're making some kind of effort, they'll do anything for you and be there for you,” Adler said. “But if they don't see you making an effort, they're not gonna waste their time. And he saw me making an effort. And he just seen me, he was hearing it from people. And I'm just glad we're friends again.”

Adler went on to say that he is ready and hoping for a reunion of the classic lineup of Guns N’ Roses. “If we do ever do a reunion — a reunion show or a tour — I would be very excited, 'cause I love those guys. I just hope nobody would hate anybody. Time is supposed to heal all wounds. And it's been 25 years… It's been 27 years… Sh-t… C'mon! Let's move on! Let's do something for the people!" Recently, Slash said "never say never" to the idea of a classic lineup reunion, and late last month Duff McKagan stated that he thinks "it could happen."

Adler also addressed the Axl Rose/ Slash rift during the podcast. "I think Axl has his grudge, I think, with Slash, and I wish he would just move on," Adler said. "'Cause Slash is a wonderful person, and Axl is a wonderful person. And they're both so talented, and together they're just so great."

The drummer and his band Adler are keeping themselves busy this summer. They kick off their summer tour on June 18 in Bolingbrook, Ill., and have dates lined up through Aug. 28 in the U.S. and South America.
