Scary day in Kane County as a sinkhole opens, luckily all three escape serious injury.

Nothing is scarier in my opinion than not knowing... that a huge hole... will open... underneath you... at any moment. Not to sound dramatic, but it is exactly what happened early Tuesday morning.

A 10-foot wide sinkhole opened up after the rains and storms and it swallowed a car and a pick up truck. The sinkhole is at Thomas and McDonald roads in Kane County. Luckily no one was critically injured.

Two people had to be extricated from a Ford Taurus that drove into the sinkhole... The vehicle was completely below ground level when it landed... Juanita Pineda, 441, and Benjamin Hernandez, 15, both of Elgin, were trapped inside. Before police arrived, a Chevrolet pickup truck drove over the first vehicle and landed in the sinkhole. The driver of the truck, 25-year-old Irvin Morero of Elgin, was treated and released at the scene.
