The Rock River Valley Blood Center, 96.7 The Eagle, and the Rockford IceHogs to host "Hockey Fans Out For Blood" drive at the BMO Harris Bank Center on January 19th.

I've always said that when there is a need in Rockford, our community comes out to support. Of course, this time of year there are lots of donations of food, toys, and money to help people during the Christmas holiday. Plus, with the winter weather, the giving continues with coats, hats, and gloves.

Those are all great things but there is another area where help is needed. Everyone has such busy schedules the number of donors goes down and there becomes a shortage of the local blood supply. That's why I think the timing is perfect for this event. Plus, it combines two great elements, helping others and having fun.

The Rock River Valley Blood Center, Rockford IceHogs, and 96.7 The Eagle have teamed up for "Hockey Fans Out For Blood" drive.

It's this Thursday, January 19th from noon to 6 p.m. in the ticket lobby of the BMO Harris Bank Center. You can make an appointment in advance by calling 815-965-8751 or on their website, HERE.

96.7 The Eagle will be broadcasting live from 3-5 p.m. and of course, I'll be wearing a costume — something Christmas-themed.

You will be rewarded for your effort. The first 96 donors will receive an exclusive IceHogs T-shirt, a home game ticket voucher and the opportunity to participate in an exclusive locker room tour. The Hogs will also have some special giveaways.

Please make plans to join us.
