A referee was punched by Rockford soccer players during a tournament in Wisconsin.

I grew up playing sports. Back then, they were just a game. Something to do for fun. Now, people take them way too serious. Fans and players don't know how to be respectful of each other. I think it's very sad.

According to rrstar.com,

"Three Rockford boys face charges after a championship youth soccer match in Brookfield, Wisconsin, unraveled into a fight during which a referee was punched several times."

Here's some video for the incident that I found on YouTube.

The problem didn't start with the referee and the players. It began during the game between rival teams from Rockford and Wisconsin.

The game got rough. Then families of the Wisconsin players started making racist comments about the Rockford people. A fight started between the kids playing in the game.

The official tried to intervene. That's when he was punched several times. The police were called and arrests were made.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

I hope both teams have learned from their mistakes before they are allowed to play again.

Here's an example of a local team with good sportsmanship.
