The 2017 Summer schedule for Music in the Park at the Sinnissippi Park Music Shell has been released by the Rockford Park District.

I feel like the Sinnissippi Park Music Shell is a place that most people in Rockford know about, but they don't take advantage of it.

I believe it's a special place. It's a really unique looking stage on the side of a hill in the middle of a park. It has cool vibe. If you go there for an event, it doesn't feel like you're in the middle of Rockford.

The Rockford Park District just announced the 2017 Summer schedule at rockfordparkdistrict.org.

If you have never been there, I think this Summer is your time to finally check it out. Remember, it's free.

You can enjoy it two different ways.

Plan in advance and make it an event. Grab your family or a group of friends. Bring a picnic dinner, blanket, and chairs. Go all out.

Just show up. They have benches to sit on and concessions for food and beverages.

Either way, you'll have a good time.

The music is so diverse. They have entertainment from the Phantom Regiment to Harlan Jefferson and everything in between.

I really enjoyed going to see reggae bands, because we don't have them in town very often.

Before they had the Friday Night Flix at Davis Park, they use to show movies there too.

I always thought it would be cool to have a national act do a performance there. Imagine if Cheap Trick did a hometown show on that stage. It would be so much fun.

I hope you get a chance to check it out this summer.
