A brand new building is being constructed for a McDonald's in the Rockford area.

The students and faculty at East High School were panicking. It looked like the closest restaurant to the campus was closing down. All of sudden, the gas station part at the McDonald's and Mobil on Charles Street had shut down. Fencing went around the facility like it was going completely out of business and being knocked down.

Well, that's only part of the story. Yes, the building is being taken out but it will be replaced with a new one.

According to rrstar.com,

"The building that has housed a McDonald’s and gas station and convenience store since 1999 will be demolished next month and replaced by a stand-alone McDonald’s this summer. The new store will be built basically on the same footprint. Demolition of the existing McDonald’s is expected to begin in early March. Construction of a new restaurant is expected to be finished within 90 to 120 days."

The location is always so busy, I think a newly improved bigger store will work out well for that area of town.
