Rock and Roll Wrap Up Feb. 7-10

February 7, 2001 - U2 did an extremely rare concert at London's Astoria, which is a very small venue. It holds only 2,000 people. Best part, tickets were given away for free.

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band did a stint at New York City's Madison Square Garden. On February 7, 2001, two of their shows were edited down for a double live CD and 2 hour concert for HBO.

The Clash kicked off their first American tour in 1979. It took place outside of San Francisco at the Berkeley Community Theatre on February 7th.

Steven Stills became the first rock performer to record on digital equipment. It was on February 7, 1979 at Record Plant Studio in Los Angeles.

The Beatles arrived for their first U.S. tour in New York in 1964 on February 7th.

1990 was a big year for Eric Clapton. On February 10th, he played the last of 18 shows with three different bands, blues guitarist Robert Cray and a 60 piece orchestra. The performances were at London's Royal Albert Hall.

Elton John was in Philadelphia, PA performing at the NBA all-star game in 2002.
