It’s G.I. Joe’s Birthday, But He’s No Evel Knievel

You could call him the original Chuck Norris.  G.I. Joe celebrates his 50th birthday this week.  Yeah, I know Chuck is older, but as a kid, I only knew him as the guy who fought Bruce Lee in the Roman Coliseum in 'Way of the Dragon'.

G.I. Joe and his beard of justice were busy fighting commies and kicking butt all over the globe.  I think even mom swooned over him....ewwww.

For me, the best toy to have in the mid-70's was my Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle.  I would set up in our kitchen and make Evel fly over pots, pans and even whole gallons of milk!  It was exciting.  For mindless fun, I'd pull out the old Stretch Armstrong
