1998 - "Van Halen 3" was released by Van Halen, which was the first album with Gary Cherone of Extreme as the lead singer.

1976 - Bob Dylan's protest song "Hurricane" prompted a retrial for boxer Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, who was accused of triple murder in 1966. Twenty-two years after he was first accused, he was set free and  all charges were dropped.
