2000 - KISS announced that they were going to do a farewell tour in makeup and then sell off the stage props from their career in auction.

1999 - Doug Weston died at the age of 72 after a bout with pneumonia. He ran the Los Angeles nightclub The Troubadour.

1978 - Dire Straits started work on their first album in London.

1972 - John Lennon and Yoko Ono began the first of their five days as co-hosts of "The Mike Douglas Show."
