2011 - Clarence Clemons, saxophonist with Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, suffered a stroke. He died six days later.

2005 - Pink Floyd announced it would reunite with former bassist Roger Waters (who left in '85) for the Live 8 concert in London on July 2nd that year. The concert marked the first time the four of them played together since "The Wall" tour in 1981.

1977 - Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams" was the number on single.

1965 - The Beatles were awarded the M.B.E., Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. Some previous medal recipients were so upset, they returned their awards.
