1998 - Bruce Springsteen's father, Douglas, died in Belmont, California.

1996 - In a national radio broadcast, Stone Temple Pilots bassist Robert DeLeo announced the band's lead singer, Scott Weiland, was in drug rehab and unable to perform. STP was forced to cancel several free shows.

1992 - David Bowie and supermodel Iman married. The wedding was announced about a week later.

1977 - Talking Heads went on their first European tour, opening for The Ramones.
