2008 - Danny Federici, longtime keyboard player for Bruce Springsteen and member of the E Street Band, died of cancer at the age of 58. He had worked with Springsteen for over 40 years.

2004 - Kurt Cobain's right-handed 1960s Mosrite Gospel Mark IV guitar sold at auction for 117 thousand, five hundred dollars. At the same sale, the piano that Elton John and Bernie Taupin wrote "Your Song" and "Tiny Dancer" on fetched 165 thousand, five hundred dollars.

2003 - Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee was cleared of responsibility in the drowning death of a four-year-old child in his pool during his son's birthday party in June of 2001.

1998 - Linda McCartney died of breast cancer at age 56.

1973 - Pink Floyd's album, "Dark Side of the Moon," went gold in the U.S. It would stay on the chart for more than 10 years and become the longest charting rock record of all-time.

1972 - Keith Richards and his girlfriend Anita Pallenberg welcomed their second child, a daughter named Dandelion.

1971 - All four ex-Beatles had solo singles in the UK charts. Paul's was "Another Day"; John had "Power To The People"; George's was "My Sweet Lord" and  Ringo had "It Don't Come Easy."
