Remembering RPD Detective Kevin Rice, EOW 08/03/01

For the past few years, I have been honored to host the Northern Illinois Police Memorial Breakfast and Ceremony. It's a very emotional event, that pays tribute to those in blue that have lost their lives. If there is a positive of hosting such an emotional event, it's that I've met some incredible people over the years. Not only the members of law enforcement, but the family members of these fallen officers.

The memorial event was cancelled this year due to COVID-19, so I wanted to chat a little bit with one of these family members. Elmer Rice, the brother of Detective Rice, is front and center with his family every year for the memorial.

As we pay tribute to Detective Rice today, here is my interview with his brother Elmer. Blessed are the Peacekeepers, we shall never forget.
