Famous Vegas Performer Is Big Supporter Of New IL Gelato Shop

You're not going to believe the popular star that is backing a new gelato shop in Illinois.

What Is Gelato?

The Dessert was invented in Italy. Some people would compare it to ice cream but in reality, they are much different. Even though they are made with many of the same ingredients, gelato is much richer, denser, and smoother because the portions and the processes are not the same. The Italian sweet treat is healthier but let's be honest, neither is going to be on a healthy eating plan.

New Gelato Shop Is Coming To Chicago

According to chicago.suntimes.com,

Sideshow Gelato is the dream of Chicagoan Jay Bliznick, who’s setting up shop at 4819 N. Western Ave., down the street from Lincoln Square’s main drag. He plans to open by March.

This Is Not Your Ordinary Gelato Shop

Of course, Sideshow Gelato will serve many different delicious flavors of the treat but it's going to be so much more.

The shop will employ aspiring magicians, jugglers, ventriloquists, and other performers as scoopers who — when not slinging frozen desserts — will perform on a nearby stage.

The location will also feature a museum of sideshow acts and oddities.

The Story Behind Sideshow Gelato

The owner, Jay Bliznick, came up with the idea during the pandemic. He's a former executive chef so he loves food. Plus, his favorite hobby is doing magic. Bliznick thought combining the two would make a great place for families to come and visit.

Sideshow Gelato Has A Celebrity Supporter

Jay is a big fan of Vegas performer, Penn Jillette of Penn and Teller fame. He reached out to him on Cameo which is a website service where you pay a fee to talk with celebrities. Bliznick mentioned to his hero that his new shop will feature some vegan gelato. Jillette was very interested. He sent him a few samples to taste. Penn loved it and became an immediate supporter. In fact, the star said he wished there had been a place like this one when he was starting out in show business.
