With all the snow melted and the rain that followed, we knew flooding was imminent but no one could assume how bad it would be. Many residents near the Rock River and Pecatonica River has been affected and it will likely get worse over the next 18-24 hours.

According to MyStateline.com, officials have declared parts of Winnebago County an "Emergency Disaster." Residents are being advised to evacuate their homes if they haven't already. Residents that are unable to secure temporary housing should contact Red Cross.

The rivers are expected to rise to an unprecedented level by tomorrow (Tuesday), said IL State Representative John Cabello to MyStateline.com.

I think everyone realizes the historic water levels thats (sic) coming. Again if you see water around your home today. It's probably going to be in it tomorrow.

As reported by Q985online.com, sandbagging efforts are in full effect and available for pickup at multiple locations. Volunteers may still be needed at the Machesney Park Mall location.
