If there was such thing as an official weekend destination for Chicagoans, it would be this place.

It also happens to be considered one of the most beautiful towns in all of America.

And I have to wonder if that's a coincidence? I'd say probably not.

When you think of trying to just get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city for a minute or a long weekend, you've probably thought about taking a trip to Lake Geneva.

That's because the people who know a thing or two about traveling, Conde Nast Traveler, listed their 26 Most Beautiful Towns in America and it made the list.

Conde Nast Traveler:

One of our favorite day trips from Chicago, Lake Geneva has managed to stay at the top of many travel recommendation lists—mainly for its year-round resort-like atmosphere and attractions. The town offers a plethora of water activities perfect for spring and summer, even when the water might be a tad too cold for swimming. For a unique perspective, experience Lake Geneva from above on a hot air balloon ride or a canopy tour, the latter encompassing five suspended bridges and eight zip lines.

If you do go to Lake Geneva, be sure to make reservations to eat at Baker House Restaurant & Lounge. Rated 4 out of 5 on TripAdvisor, a trip to Lake Geneva isn't complete without a visit to this restaurant ripped out of time.
