In this episode of "Things Double T Has Never Done in Rockford," he heads down to Patriots Boxing Club to get some lessons from Rockford's Olympic Boxing hopeful.

Recently, Rockford has really had a run with successful athletes. Just to name a couple. There's Fred Van Vleet who went to Auburn High School and now plays basketball in the NBA for the Toronto Raptors. Boylan High School graduate, Dean Lowery, is a Green Bay Packer. Oakland A's outfielder, Jake Smolinski, played for Boylan High School too.

Make sure you add Angel Martinez to the list. He is a fighter for Patriots Boxing Club in Rockford. He is currently a senior at Auburn High School. Angel is a 2017 Golden Gloves Champion and 2020 Olympic hopeful. He's a very talented young man.

Jimmy Goodman is his coach. He invited me down the boxing club to meet Martinez and to get a couple of lessons. Maybe even do a little sparring with him.

Video: Here's the video from my visit with Angel Martinez and Jimmy Goodman at Patriots Boxing Club.

Angel Martinez is going to be fighting this Saturday, October 28th in Rockford.

This will be his last fight in Rockford for awhile, so you might want to consider going down and checking him out when you have the chance. Then you could say, "I saw him back in the day."
