The North Park Fire Department, especially firefighter Matt Hehn, go above and beyond for an elderly couple in Machesney Park.

I have to say I was completely moved by this story. There is so much good in this world, and it deserves to be celebrated.

Barb was cooking dinner for her husband Bob and she started to feel sick, according to WIFR.

She called 911 and a first responders and officers came to her home. They suggested that she go to the hospital, but she was worried to leave Bob, who is disabled and confined to a wheelchair, alone without dinner.

He needed to have dinner and take his pills. Barb needed to go to the hospital.

North Park firefighter Matt Hehn and two of his coworkers, jumped in and finished making dinner for Bob while Barb was brought to the hospital.

Barb and Bob can't thank the North Park Fire Department enough for the incredible act of kindness.

After watching Barb tell the story in the video below, I was touched. It is amazing how the smallest act of kindness can impact someone in such a big way. What will you be doing today to give back to others?
