New Skateboarding Park Opens in Downtown Rockford

Last Friday the Rockford Park District celebrated the opening of a new skateboarding park located downtown.

Just in time for national Go Skateboarding Day, The Landing Skatepark opened June 21st at Founder's Landing at Davis Park on Wyman Street.

The designing process for this park took about two years according to project designer Eric Neubauer.

The way I set this park up is, there are infinite lines here, because of this pavilion being in the middle,” Newbauer said. “So, it’s like your creativity and your abilities, your amount of fun you’re going to have here, it’s up to you.”

The Landing Skatepark location is about 5,000 square feet and was thanks to a donation from Smith Charitable Trust.
