New Illinois Bill Focuses On Funding For Professional Sports Teams Stadiums

Back in the day, cities and states worried about losing their professional sports teams to other places. That would be a big hit to the fans and residents. Plus, it could get a politician voted out of office very quickly.

So the city and state officials would bend over backwards for the owners. They would throw cash at the teams to help them build a new stadium or renovate the current one. Those were horrible deals costing the tax players millions of dollars.

Times have changed. Chicago and Illinois are hurting for money. They can't afford to give pro sports teams money to build new venues. The people aren't having it. They don't want their tax money going to the billionaire owners.

Currently, the Bears and White Sox are both asking for stadium funding. So far, the state has refused. I hope they continue. The teams are horrible. They don't deserve any money because of the product they put out.

Recently, a new law was proposed for Illinois. It would require the team requesting funding for a new or renovated stadium to have a winning record over a five-year period. I don't see that happening anytime soon.
