Massive Ground Beef Recall After Outbreak; One Dead, 17 Sick
Cargill Meat Solutions is at the center of a massive ground beef recall.
Based out of Wichita, Kansas, Cargill Meat Solutions has three ground beef plants in Illinois. With the nearest being in Woodridge less than one hundred miles from Rockford.
Over 132,000 pounds of ground beef have been recalled after one person died and 17 other people have reported sicknesses due to E. Coli in the infected meat.
Cargill Meat is sold across the country including locations in Rockford and surrounding areas.
Every sickness was reported between July 5 and 25. The meat was produced and packaged on June 21.
If you happen to have any of these possibly infected meat products in your freezer, throw them out or return it to the store.
