IL Postal Service Opens Santa Mailbox, Encourages Now
For many residents of Rockford, it's never too early to start thinking about Christmas, and the U.S. Postal Service reminds its customers in Illinois that it's time for the children to start thinking about sending those letters to Santa.
The Illinois Postal Service Is Now Accepting Letters To Santa For This Christmas
Back when I was a child, Christmas was by far my favorite holiday of the year. Of course, it had a lot to do with Santa and presents. I was just a little kid, so I didn't know better. Every year, I had to go visit Santa to let him know what I wanted. Also, it was very important to send him my gift list so he had it in writing too. I can't remember the whole process from those days, but the turnaround time didn't take very long.

Since throughout the year, all the other holidays are expanding, it only makes sense that Christmas is too. If you didn't know the date, when you hit some stores in town, you would swear it's December. With a much bigger holiday celebration, more people are participating in the festivities. That even includes letters to Santa.

Christmas is more than three months away, but the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) is hard at work getting ready for the holidays and is now accepting letters to Santa and sending them to the North Pole.
The postal service has just announced that it's now accepting letters to Santa for the 2026 Christmas season. It only makes sense to start that process early, because it takes so long to get letters through the mail. The last thing anyone wants is for a child to not receive a letter back from Santa.
