The Rockford Ice Hogs officially kicked off their 2026-27 season this past weekend, and the excitement spilled well beyond the ice.

Opening Weekend Brings Hockey and a Downtown Celebration

The annual IceHogs Block Party brought fans together before Saturday night's home opener (10/3), creating a full day of hockey, entertainment, and community celebration.

While they may not have gotten the win in their first game, Mike Peck from the Rockford IceHogs told the Q Morning Crew that there are plenty of opportunities ahead. "We have 71 more of these to go," Peck joked during a conversation with Johnny V. and Lil' Zim.

After a couple of games in Des Moines this weekend, the IceHogs return home next Friday (10/16) and Saturday (10/17).

90s Night and Book Club Night are Next

Fans won't have to wait long for the next round of theme nights planned this season.

Friday, October 16, will feature 90s Night, along with $3 beer and $3 soft drinks. Saturday, October 17, brings one of the more unusual additions to this year's promotional schedule with Book Club Night.

According to Mike Peck, the event will feature a pregame book exchange and appearances by local authors. Fans who purchase tickets to the special pregame event will also receive a cloth book bag.

More IceHogs Theme Nights Coming This Season

The theme-night calendar continues throughout the season, including Pink in the Rink Night on October 30, returning after a lengthy absence and helping close out Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Then, on November 7, the IceHogs bring back Day of the Dead Night, complete with special bobbleheads and jerseys.
