I started reading again now that the weather is changing and fall is officially here.  There's just something about cooler temps that make me want to grab a cozy blanket, curl up on the couch and get lost in a good book (especially when my cats are sleeping next to me!).

The only problem I'm having right now is finding books worth the read!  Where the heck do I even start?!

There are so many books out there, and every time I scroll on social media, someone is talking about a book I've never heard of.  Then there are books everyone seems to be reading, the ones your friend swears you have to read, and whatever happens to be trending on BookTok this week.

So I wanted to make a list of all the books my friends recommended I start reading for anyone who needs a list.  I did the work so you didn't have to!

What are we reading?

What's actually worth the read?

What's trending right now?

What is your book club recommending?

These recs are for young adults, women, and men!  We aren't limiting the options.

Illinois Book Lovers: What Should We Be Reading This Fall?

Let me start with my rec: Melt With You by Jennifer Dugan.  I actually found this at the thrift store!  Roughly 300 pages, young adult material, and it follows two best friends with a friendship that might, or might not, work out in the end. So far, I'm 4 chapters in and it's totally worth the read!

  • Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman
  • Four Winds by Kristin Hannah
  • A Court of Thorns and Roses series
  • Sometimes I Scare Myself by Jeneva Rose
  • The Hike by Drew Magary
  • The Listeners by Jordan Tannahil
  • You & Me by Tal Bauer
  • Ishmael by Daniel Quinn
  • They Cage the Animals at Night by Jennings Michael Burch
  • Famesick by Lena Dunham
  • Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough
