It takes a lot of resources when you want to obtain weapons from those who shouldn't have them. Many Illinois law enforcement agencies just received $1.5 million dollars to help the effort of removing firearms from the hands of those who are considered dangerous.

According to this press release from the Illinois State Police, this is the third round of grants totaling a whopping $1.5 million dollars to help law enforcement agencies have the resources they need to obtain firearms from people who are not legally supposed to have them. It says they want to "focus on individuals who have become the subject of a Firearm Restraining Order or Clear and Present Danger, or received a criminal conviction".

  • Chicago Police Department - $612,097.48
  • Cicero Police Department - $27,447.96
  • Cook County Sheriff’s Office - $479,633.39
  • DeKalb Police Department - $19,139.62
  • Joliet Police Department - $50,744.59
  • Lincolnwood Police Department - $12,147.72
  • Morton Grove Police Department - $13,909.77
  • Naperville Police Department - $36,689.44
  • Park Ridge Police Department - $16,389.38
  • Riverwoods Police Department - $10,634.09
  • Rolling Meadows Police Department - $14,216.02
  • Romeoville Police Department - $19,662.09
  • Schaumburg Police Department - $24,367.05

Where did the funds come from for all this Illinois firearms compliance? The press release said it was the State Police Enforcement Fund which was a part of Illinois Public Act 102-0237.
