Illinois Just Made it Illegal to Get This at a Hotel or Motel

You're gonna have to figure out how to get this somewhere other than a hotel or motel in Illinois. The state legislature and governor just made it very illegal and soon you'll face consequences if you try it.

The state of Illinois just passed SB2960 and Governor Pritzker signed it into law. The penalty if you get this at a hotel or motel in Illinois is "a civil penalty of $500 to a business offense with a fine of not more than $1,500."

What vile offense will get you busted in Illinois?

You might want to sit down for this. Starting July 1, 2025, Illinois hotels and motels "may not provide small single-use plastic bottles containing personal care products to either (i) a customer of the establishment who is staying in a sleeping room accommodation or any space within the sleeping room accommodation or (ii) a customer of the establishment who is using a bathroom shared by the public or guests."

Translation? No more single-use shampoo and conditioner bottles for you. If you find that in a hotel or motel in Illinois after July 1, 2025, you are in possession of contraband (in a sudsy kind of way).

Illinois has finally put the hammer down on this enemy of all that our country represents. Shampoo and conditioner freeloaders, take notice. Illinois is no longer your sugar daddy for small shampoo bottles.

I can see it now. Street corners near Illinois motels will be full of individuals peddling small bottles of shampoo. It's now simply a matter of time.
