Common sense will tell you that it's almost always a good idea to wear a seat belt and most of the time it's the law to do so. But, there are a handful of exceptions to Missouri's seat belt law that will allow you to not buckle up.

I saw a legal site called Burger Law that addressed Missouri's seat belt statutes. I was surprised to see that there are 5 distinct occasions when you are NOT required by Missouri law to wear a seat belt. Here they are:

Here's a bonus one provided to my by a listener named William. He said "If you license your truck (doesn't matter what size truck) with 18,000lb tags. You don't have to wear a seat belt! ".
