You aren't likely to see a creature like this in your backyard ever, but it just happened to a woman who lives near Hornick, Iowa as a rare blonde raccoon appeared and there are photos and videos to prove it.

A huge thank you to Krystal Renee Folsom who was so kind to share these pics and video with me so I could share them with you. Here's a compilation I put together from some of the videos Krystal shared. What a beautiful creature.

Krystal mentioned that she has learned a blonde raccoon like this is so rare you'll only see one in ever 175,000.

While she saw other more ordinary black and grey raccoons, they generally kept their distance from "Blondie".

Krystal also mentioned that she believes the genetics that lead to the light color of the raccoon might also contribute to worse eyesight which might be the reason this cute critter got so close to her back window.

Hornick, Iowa is located in the western part of the state and will now likely be known as the new blonde raccoon capital of the Midwest. Thanks so much again to Krystal Renee Folsom for her kindness in sharing this unique creature with all of us.
