When I was growing up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, I used to love the field trips to places downtown. Shedd Aquarium, Brookfield Zoo, Museum of Science and Industry and, of course, the Field Museum.

I liked dinosaurs growing up, so walking in and seeing the big T-Rex, Sue, greet you always put a smile on my face. I even had the opportunity to visit the spot in South Dakota where she was originally discovered.

There's just so much fun and interesting stuff at the Field Museum, trying to take it all in at once can become difficult. Thankfully, they are trying to ease some of the financial burdens of visiting in February. For all Illinois residents, with proof of residency, a general admission ticket will be free all month. They will also offer discounted rates for All-Access Passes and discounted Discovery Passes which you can check the price for here. The Field Museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., 364 days a year (every day but Christmas day).

Obviously with this promotion the weekends will be a lot busier than weekdays, but if you have the time, pack the family up and enjoy a fun-filled day of learning at the Field Museum.
