Illinois One Of The Least Expensive States For Making Margaritas

Who knew in the Land of Lincoln, where seemingly everything is more expensive than nearly every other state in the US, it's one of the cheaper places to make a margarita.

Since tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo, a day commemorating the Mexican army's victory at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, it's easy to assume many quarantined folks around the country will celebrate with a margarita or two or six.

So HouseMethod conducted a survey to find which states can make a margarita the cheapest.

We collected data on the price of five main margarita ingredients from zip codes throughout the country to determine the cost of making a margarita in each state.

Arizona took the top spot, where a margarita can get made for only $2.01. Apparently, Jose Cuervo tequila is cheaper in Arizona than any other state in the US.

Illinois wasn't too far behind, ranking as the 6th cheapest state in the US to make a margarita at $2.26.

Alabama is the most expensive state in the country, checking in at $3.00 a serving.
