Styx, REO SpeedWagon, Cheap Trick, Smashing Pumpkins, Buddy Guy, & Chicago all share something in common. They are all from Illinois. Looking back and telling the history of Rock & Roll, it's hard not to show Illinois' contribution. Many bands have made it to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. The mecca for any artist out there, but something tell me this one will hold a special spot in all their hearts.

The future Illinois Rock & Roll Museum on Route 66 is close to naming its first class of inductees. Voting goes through February 14th, and any charter member gets a vote. You could become a charter member! The museum is combining a membership drive with a voting push for their first class. Individual memberships are $35 with discounted rates for seniors, teachers, and students. To become a member, click HERE. To see the list of 20 artists to vote on, click HERE.

There's even categories for radio stations, disc jockeys, and more. The induction ceremony will be held on March 29th at the Renaissance Center according to My Suburban Life.

Now the opening of the Hall of Fame has not been set yet, but it will be at 9 W Cass St. in Joliet, Illinois. The owner claims the first floor will be done by the time of the induction. The building in total is 3 floors high.

I love the mixture of artists that have ties to our state. Many different styles and genres are represented and that has to do with the diversity that our state is known for. I for one can't wait for the museum to be completed to go pay my respects to those that have put Illinois on the map when it comes to the landscape of Rock & Roll.
