So we all know that trash stinks, some more than others and landfills bear the brunt of everything we happen to throw away. There are so many items we use in our day to day life that are not recyclable and it really starts to add up. But the amount of trash is not the problem at the Winnebago Landfill located on Lindenwood road, Its the smell that got them into trouble According to WIFR.com. The Illinois EPA just hit the Winnebago Landfill with fines over a few different violations.

One of the things that the landfill has been accused of is failing to control waste gas emissions. Experts say that Hydrogen sulfide gas causes breathing problems, headaches and even nausea, and there's definitely no shortage of the gas at the Winnebago Landfill. State leaders have said they want the landfill to create a system to control the gas. But that's not it, they also want them to pony up $50,000 for every single violation as well as an extra $10,000 each day until the problem is corrected. I hope this doesn't mean our trash service is going up.
